Service standards on release of decisions by the CNSC

CNSC Website User Survey

Service excellence is a priority for the CNSC.

Our service standards on the release of decisions keep the Commission focused on and accountable for releasing decisions within a reasonable and predictable time limit.

The time limit objectives for the release of decisions by the Commission to participants are:

  • for hearings permitting only written submissions: within 60 calendar days after the close of the record of the hearing
  • for hearings permitting written submissions and oral presentations that take two (2) days or less: within 90 calendar days after the close of the record of the hearing
  • for hearings permitting written submissions and oral presentations that take longer than two (2) days: within 120 calendar days after the close of the record of the hearing

Where a decision needs to be released on an urgent or more expeditious basis than the above standards of service, the Commission will issue a summary record of decision, to be followed later by a detailed record of decision.

The Commission will implement a two-week timeout during the holidays in December for these service standards.

The Commission expects to meet these standards at least 90% of the time.
