Participant funding notice

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist members of the public, Indigenous peoples and stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report for Research Reactors and Class IB Accelerators: 2016 and 2017 and submitting comments, in writing, to the Commission.

The CNSC will hold a public meeting on August 22–23, 2018 in Ottawa, ON, during which CNSC staff will present the report to the Commission. This report will provide CNSC staff’s assessment of the safety performance of Canadian research reactors and Class 1B particle accelerator facilities during the 2016 and 2017 calendar years. The Commission will be accepting written submissions on the report from the public.

Participant funding up to $25,000 is being offered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific written submissions to the Commission.

To apply for participant funding, interested parties must complete and submit a participant funding application form. Certain terms and conditions apply. Submit the application form by:

The deadline to submit a participant funding application is May 28, 2018. Please note that late or incomplete funding applications will not be considered.

A funding review committee, independent of the CNSC, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.

The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
