Participant funding notice: SRB Technologies (Canada) Inc. licence renewal application

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist members of the public, Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders in reviewing SRB Technologies (Canada) Inc. (SRB) licence, as well as for providing information on tritium and the environment, as they relate to SRB operations. SRB is located in Pembroke, Ontario.

SRB has requested a 10-year licence renewal for its tritium processing facility, which currently manufactures self-luminous exit signs.

Participant funding up to $35,000 is being offered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific interventions. This funding must be used to prepare for, and participate in, the Commission’s public hearing.

To apply for participant funding, interested parties must fill out and return the Participant Funding Application Form. Certain terms and conditions apply.

The deadline to submit a participant funding application is Friday, January 9, 2015. Please note that late or incomplete funding applications will not be considered.

A funding review committee, independent of the CNSC, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.

The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect the health, safety and security of Canadians and the environment, and to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

For information on how to participate, visit the Participate in a Public Commission Hearing and Participant Funding Program sections of the CNSC website.
