Senior Project Officer

Noreddine is a senior project officer at the CNSC and an accomplished leader in the nuclear sector. He is a senior expert within the Innovation Hub and has taken on increasingly senior roles, advising on complex scientific and technical nuclear safety issues. He joined the CNSC in 2006 as a technical specialist and became Director of the Reactor Behaviour Division in 2016, followed by Strategic Advisor in 2019. His ability to foster innovation contributes to making our organization agile and a leader in innovation.

Expertise and education

Noreddine is a professional engineer and holds a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal.

Noreddine’s portfolio of expertise ranges from engineering design to the regulation of nuclear facilities. He has also developed and nurtured trusting relationships with peers in Canada and abroad and has been actively involved in many national and international committees.

Roles and responsibilities

Noreddine provides strategic and scientific advice to the Chief Science Officer, leads integrated innovation assessments and fosters innovation in nuclear safety.

Noreddine is chair of an international committee evaluating one of the research programs at France’s Institut de radioprotection et de sûreté nucléaire (IRSN). He leads a team of 6 international experts and university professors from Canada, Germany and France to evaluate the IRSN’s research program on the potential release of radionuclides into the environment. The team is also evaluating the IRSN’s strategic research on improving confinement of radioactive materials at different types of facilities.
