Administrative monetary penalty issued to Construction DJL Inc.
On August 30, 2024, the CNSC issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) of $9,190 to Construction DJL Inc. The company holds a CNSC licence for the possession, transfer, use and storage of portable nuclear gauges.
On November 16, 2022, the CNSC conducted an inspection at the licensee’s facility in Shawinigan, Québec. During this inspection, it was identified that the licensee had failed to use a licensed dosimetry service to measure and monitor doses received by its workers as per regulatory requirements.
On March 20, 2024, the CNSC conducted a follow-up inspection, which identified that the licensee did not implement the required corrective measures following the November 2022 inspection. The March 2024 inspection also revealed that the licensee had failed to provide a dosimeter to several workers in accordance with its internal procedures and had failed to meet its commitment to communicate annual dose to its workers.
The AMP is being issued to Construction DJL Inc. to promote future compliance and to deter reoccurrence.
