Order issued to Sunshine Coast Materials Testing Ltd.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) issued an order on October 23, 2024, to Sunshine Coast Materials Testing Ltd. The company holds a CNSC licence for the possession, transfer, use and storage of portable nuclear gauges and is based in Sechelt, British Columbia.

The order, which was issued during a routine inspection in Sechelt, requires the licensee to immediately place all gauges into secure storage. This order will remain in effect until the licensee demonstrates to the CNSC that it has implemented an effective radiation protection program and that it has corrected all items of non-compliance identified in the preliminary inspection report. Sunshine Coast Materials Testing Ltd. is also not permitted to transport portable gauges until it demonstrates full compliance with the Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations, 2015 and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.
