Funding programs
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) administers 3 funding programs to support its regulatory mission. These programs aim to:
- support public and Indigenous participation in the CNSC’s decision-making and regulatory processes
- build capacity for Indigenous Nations and communities
- generate knowledge and information to support regulatory decisions
The Participant Funding Program provides project specific funding (related to an assessment or licensing process) to Indigenous Nations and communities, not-for-profit organizations and individuals.
New Indigenous and Stakeholder Capacity Fund
The Indigenous and Stakeholder Capacity Fund provides support to Indigenous Nations and communities and public stakeholders. This support is not tied to a specific CNSC licensing decision or regulatory process.
The Research and Support Program provides the CNSC with access to independent advice, expertise, experience, and information to support regulatory decisions, to identify unforeseen hazards and to develop tools and procedures to address emerging issues.
