Stream 3: Engagement and Collaboration Support

Funding through the Engagement and Collaboration Support stream will be based on needs identified by CNSC subject matter experts through ongoing engagement and collaboration activities with Indigenous Nations and communities, and stakeholders. Funds under this stream will be disbursed through grants and contribution agreements.

Who is eligible

Eligible recipients include Indigenous Nations and communities, including organizations or aggregate of communities, as well as public stakeholders including non-governmental organizations, members of the public, and other organizations with a direct interest with regards to nuclear projects, facilities and activities in Canada.

Engagement activities
  • Workshops, collaboration and meetings between the CNSC and eligible recipients interested in regulatory oversight of nuclear projects and activities
  • Early and ongoing engagement between the CNSC and eligible recipients in regions where there are no existing nuclear facilities and where new nuclear projects are likely to be proposed (pre-project engagement)
Collaboration activities
  • Educational and training activities with the CNSC regarding nuclear safety and new emerging technologies
  • Collaborative environmental and regional monitoring activities with the CNSC
  • Traditional ceremonies
IT equipment and devices
  • Support for Indigenous Nations and communities to purchase equipment to engage with CNSC staff virtually
CNSC committees and advisory bodies
  • Participation in CNSC committees and advisory bodies

Eligible expenses

Eligible expenses include:

  • professional fees
  • administrative costs
  • travel expenses including meals, accommodation and incidentals
  • honoraria and ceremonial offerings
  • Current funding opportunities

    Funding in this category provides support to Indigenous Nations and communities and stakeholders to participate in engagement and collaboration activities with the CNSC. Funding is offered on a case-by-case basis and will be based on needs identified by CNSC subject matter experts through ongoing engagement and collaboration activities with eligible recipients.
