Blind River Refinery licence renewal webinar
Join us on May 12, 2021, for a webinar on Cameco’s Blind River Refinery.
This general information session will outline the regulatory review process for Cameco’s application to renew its Class 1B nuclear fuel facility operating licence for the Blind River Refinery (BRR), in Blind River, Ontario, for another 10-year period. The BRR licence renewal application is currently under review by CNSC staff.
Cameco was granted a 10-year Class 1B operating licence that expires on February 28, 2022. The licence renewal application does not involve any adjustments to authorized activities or production rates. CNSC staff have conducted compliance verification activities at the BRR facility and have concluded that the potential risks are low to negligible.
The purpose of this webinar is to:
- provide information on the BRR licence renewal application
- provide details on the regulatory review process for this facility
- reaffirm the CNSC’s commitment to protect health, safety, security and the environment
- explain how the public, Indigenous groups and potential intervenors can participate in the upcoming hearing on November 24 and 25, 2021
