Subject: Bruce B Unit 6: Release of Regulatory Hold Point for Increasing Above 1% Full Power, Major Component Replacement
Dear Mr. Burton:
The purpose of this letter is to respond to Bruce Power’s request [1] to remove the third regulatory hold point (RHP-3), allowing an increase above 1% full power in Bruce B Unit 6, following the Major Component Replacement outage.
Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) staff’s assessment [2] concluded that Bruce Power has met all of the Bruce A and B NGS Licence Conditions Handbook section 15.5 pre-requisites established by the CNSC to remove RHP-3. Therefore, as the person authorized by the Commission and pursuant to Licence Condition 15.5 of the Bruce Nuclear Generating Stations A and B Power Reactor Operating Licence 18.02/2028, I consent to the removal of RHP-3 to allow an increase in reactor power above 1% full power in Unit 6.
Yours sincerely,
Ramzi Jammal
Executive Vice-President and
Chief Regulatory Operations Officer
