The Nuclear Sector at a Crossroads: Fostering Innovation and Energy Security for Canada and the World is a study by the Standing Committee on Natural Resources that addresses innovation, sustainable solutions and economic opportunities as each pertains to the future of Canada’s oil and gas, mining and nuclear sectors.
An official response to the report from the Government of Canada has been requested, but has not yet been released. No corrective actions have been taken. The report contains no recommendations for the CNSC.
Safeguarding Canada's National Security While Protecting Canadians' Privacy Rights: Review of the Security of Canada Information Sharing Act (SCISA) 1 is a report prepared by the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics. The report explores the Security of Canada Information Sharing Act in terms of its impact on Canadians’ privacy. No corrective actions have been taken. There were no recommendations for the CNSC.
Response to audits conducted by the Auditor General (including to the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development)
2016 Fall Reports of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development Report 1 – Inspection of Nuclear Power Plants – Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
The audit, which was released October 4, 2016, looked at CNSC’s processes for planning and completing compliance site inspections at nuclear power plants, allocating resources to support the CNSC inspection program, and applying enforcement measures to correct non-compliances.
The CNSC agreed with the report’s five recommendations.
The CNSC has taken corrective actions 2 to address the audit recommendations. Management action plans were provided in response to audit recommendations and included in the report that was released on October 4, 2016.
