2017–18 Departmental Results Report – Supplementary Information Tables: Response to parliamentary committees and external audits
Response to parliamentary committees
On October 5, 2017, the Government of Canada tabled its formal response to the June9, 2017 House of Commons Standing Committee on Natural Resources report titled: The Nuclear Sector at a Crossroads: Fostering Innovation and Energy Security for Canada and the World. The Committee’s report made several recommendations to the Government, although none were specifically directed at the CNSC. In the Government’s response, the CNSC is mentioned several times for its positive action that it has taken to enable the efficient development of the nuclear sector, such as the pro-active stance on an appropriate framework for small modular reactors and the release of a discussion paper for public comment on this subject. There were, however, no recommendations for the CNSC in either the Committee’s report or in the Government’s response.
