2018–19 Departmental Results Report Supplementary Information: Gender-based analysis plus (GBA+)
Governance structures | The CNSC has a Director General level GBA+ working group. In 2018–19, the CNSC drafted its GBA+ statement of intent and created an internal process (approved in May 2018) to Conduct Regulatory Policy analysis. The process includes a step where the potential impacts of CNSC’s proposed regulatory projects are thoroughly considered, keeping in mind all the principles in the Cabinet Directive on Regulation (CDR) such as Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) analysis. The result of the analysis are approved by the CNSC Regulatory Framework Steering Committee (RFSC). |

Major initiatives: results achieved |
The CNSC is in the initial phases of incorporating GBA+ into its regulations projects. In 2018–19, regulatory work included proposed amendments to the Radiation Protection Regulations and other supporting guidance documents. As per the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and other international/national guidance, radiation protection principles (dose limits/generic criteria for different exposure situations) take into consideration the most vulnerable segments of the population (e.g., children, pregnant women). |
