Overview
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and Transport Canada jointly regulate the packaging and transport of nuclear substances in Canada, which is subject to the requirements of the following regulations:
- the CNSC’s Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations, 2015 (PTNSR 2015)
- Transport Canada’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations
The PTNSR 2015 rely on the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Safety Standards Series No. SSR-6, Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material, 2018 Edition, through an ambulatory reference.
