Participant funding for the Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium Mines and Mills in Canada: 2021
This participant funding opportunity is open from June 13 to July 15, 2022.
Participant funding notice
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist Indigenous Nations and communities, members of the public and stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report for Uranium Mines and Mills in Canada: 2021, and in submitting comments in writing to the Commission. In addition, in the spirit of reconciliation and in recognition of the Indigenous oral tradition of sharing knowledge, the CNSC is offering Indigenous intervenors the opportunity to make oral presentations. The uranium mines and mills covered by the report are located in the traditional and treaty territories of many Indigenous Nations and communities.
On December 15 or 16, 2022, the CNSC will hold a public meeting where CNSC staff will present the regulatory oversight report to the Commission. The report will provide an overview of CNSC regulatory efforts during the 2021 calendar year with respect to licensed operating uranium mines and mills in Canada.
Up to $75,000 in participant funding will be disbursed among all eligible applicants for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information through informed and topic-specific interventions to the Commission. Participant funding applications must clearly demonstrate how the proposed intervention will provide the Commission with information directly relating to the report and the regulatory performance of operating uranium mines and mills in Canada during the 2021 calendar year.
