Participant funding for the Regulatory Oversight Report for Waste Management, Storage and Processing Facilities in Canada: 2015 will be open from May 12, 2016 to August 26, 2016.

Participant funding notice

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) is offering participant funding to assist members of the public, Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders in reviewing CNSC staff’s Regulatory Oversight Report for Waste Management, Storage and Processing Facilities in Canada: 2015, and submitting comments, in writing, to the Commission.

The CNSC will hold a public meeting on December 14 or 15, 2016 in Ottawa, ON, during which CNSC staff will present the report to the Commission. This report provides CNSC staff’s assessment of the safety performance of radioactive waste management, storage and processing facilities, sites and initiatives in Canada during the 2015 calendar year.

Participant funding up to $35,000 is being offered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific written submissions to the Commission.  
To apply for participant funding, interested parties must fill out and return the participant funding application form. Certain terms and conditions apply. Submit the application form by

The deadline to submit a participant funding application is August 26, 2016. Please note that late or incomplete funding applications will not be considered.

A funding review committee, independent of the CNSC, will consider all applications for funding and make recommendations on the allocation of funds.

The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
